Sydney Lowe (she/her) is a creative producer working across film, TV & arts programming with a passion for artful, inclusive and impactful projects ⚡

Sydney is Associate Producer of the award-winning A24 & Plan B feature film The Last Black Man in San Francisco (New York Times Critics’s Pick, Winner of Sundance’s 2019 Best Director Award and Special Jury Prize for Creative Collaboration, Indie Spirit Award and Gotham Award nominee, President Barack Obama’s 2019 Favorite Movies List ), Executive Producer of Vimeo Staff Pick Lonely Blue Night (Winner of the 2020 HBO APA Visionaries Award, 2020 AFI Fest Official Selection & Audience Award Winner and 2021 Palm Springs International Official Selection) and began her career working on Issa Rae’s HBO Emmy and Golden Globe nominated comedy series Insecure.

On Participant Media’s Academy Award-winning Narrative Film and Production team she championed and supported the development of bold, cinematic projects at the nexus of art and activism, including Kahlil Joseph’s BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions among others. As Director of Development within Warner Bros. Television, she developed projects by inspired creative voices from historically excluded backgrounds. At the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program as Interim Manager of Producing & Artist Support, she provided bespoke creative and strategic support of Sundance’s innovative slate of feature film projects, managing the development and execution of dynamic arts programming for the 2023 Producers Lab and Fellowship. Most recently she worked as Special Projects Consultant at Film Independent in partnership with Netflix and FX, co-leading the development and execution of the 2024 Amplifier Fellowship Residency and Imaginar TV Incubator, awarding nearly $200,000 in unrestricted grants to 12 exemplary Black and Latinx filmmakers. Sydney is currently an SFFILM FilmHouse Creative Advisory Board Member.

Sydney has previously served as an LA County Arts and Culture Grant Panelist, Telluride Film Festival Screener and as a Script Reader Consultant for the Sundance Institute, Film Independent and the Sesame Street Writers’ Room Fellowship. Her body of work also includes branded digital content for Refinery29, Kate Spade, and HBO. She is a Film Independent Fellow, a WarnerMedia Fellowship Award Winner, and a TIME'S UP Entertainment "Who's in the Room" Creative Producer Mentee.

As a photographer, her pictures have been published in PhotoVogue Italia, A24 Notes, Nylon.com, NPR, Spotify and Negative Feedback, as well as featured internationally in galleries and exhibition spaces in Italy, Mexico, San Francisco and New York. She is a former contributing writer for Constellation Magazine and co-curator of (Re)viewing Bodies: Selected American Photographs, featuring works by Gordon Parks, Diane Arbus and Lyle Ashton Harris. Sydney is also founder of ART GIRL ARMY, an art collective of inclusive female-identifying, transgender & gender-non conforming creatives (featured in Teen Vogue, New York Magazine's The Cut, and Artsy).

Sydney is inspired by the transformative powers of community, collaboration, interdisciplinary study, accessible resources and out-of-the-box thinking. Her profound love for the arts at large and civic engagement have frequently drawn her to creative spaces that radically reimagine public good. A graduate of Wesleyan University, she currently lives in Los Angeles, but is forever a New Yorker at heart.
